| In an effort to provide
customers with a broader range of colours that have
been in use for hundreds of years and were considered
essential to the working palettes of past masters, GOLDEN
has added six new colours to its existing Historical
Heavy Body Acrylic product line. As the pigments originally
used to produce these colours were
found to be unsafe or vulnerable to the effects of light
and weather, they had not been offered in GOLDEN's line
of pure pigment colours. Recognizing the popularity
of these colours within some palettes, GOLDEN has recreated
these in a safe, reliable form, meeting the conservation
requirements of fine artists.
The Historical Heavy Body Acrylic line
extension will feature the following six colours and
will be available in 2 oz. tubes and 4 oz. through gallon
sizes.
Aureolin Hue
Azurite Hue
Cobalt Violet Hue
Terre Verte Hue
Smalt Hue
Viridian Green Hue
There are also two Historical Colour sets
available, offering artists the full experience of this
new product line as a more cost-effective package. The
22 ml tube set will appeal to the artist who is curious
about these colours and the 2 oz. tube set provides
an excellent opportunity for artists to add this classic
range of colour to their working palettes. The sets
include Naples Yellow Hue, Indian Yellow Hue, Alizarin
Crimson Hue, Prussian Blue Hue, Manganese Blue Hue,
Sap Green Hue, Hookers Green Hue, and VanDyke Brown
Hue. A tremendous amount of research was conducted in
order to ensure GOLDEN Historical Colours shared the
working properties of their predecessors. The professional
expertise of art historians, museum curators and its
own technicians was utilized during this process. Considerations
for masstone, undertone and tint were included in the
matching process in attempts to as closely match the
overall colour qualities as possible. As a result, Contemporary
artists can now explore the profoundly distinct qualities
of historically significant colours while enjoying the
advantages brought about by modern chemistry: lightfastness,
safe use and permanence.
